• 2009 Barn of
the Year Recipient •
Metamora. Boy Scout D-Bar-A Barn, 880 Sutton
Rd., owned by Detroit Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.
A "Non-profit Agricultural
or Adaptive Use Award" went to one of five barns that sit neatly on the 1,700
acre Boy Scout Ranch in Metamora, built circa 1890 to 1902. Once hard-working
traditional farm buildings, today they serve multiple purposes for the Council,
including one being used as a bunk house and others for maintenance. All the
barns have been resided, reroofed and two have been straightened and had
foundations strengthened. The honored barn houses horses, a tack room, and hay.
Accepting the award, David Morosky said, "We'll be happy to show you around!"
